By Rob Longley, Toronto Sun
TORONTO, ON – Bills Toronto Series organizers announced today that tickets to the first NFL regular season game ever to be played on Canadian soil – the Buffalo Bills versus the Miami Dolphins -- will go on sale at www.billsintoronto.com on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern.
"Everyone at Rogers Centre on December 7 will get to witness one of the NFL's great rivalries and become a part of NFL history," said Phil Lind, Vice Chairman, Rogers Communications. "The Buffalo Bills are proving to be one of the most exciting teams in the NFL this season. We are proud to offer them a ‘home field' in Toronto for this important divisional game, and to present them to our city's passionate sports fans."
Organizers announced that tickets, starting at $105, are available in most price ranges and stadium sections (including club-level VIP packages). All ticket information is available at www.billsintoronto.com. Tickets are also available at www.ticketmaster.ca/billsintoronto.
Further event details, including official tailgate party information, will be announced in the coming weeks.
"NFL regular season football, starting with the Bills versus Dolphins on December 7, will build upon the already large and positive impact that the Bills Toronto Series is having on the city and its hospitality industry," added Lind.
On August 13 and 14, 2008, prior to the Bills/Steelers preseason game at Rogers Centre, more than 18,000 fans attended the Budweiser Bills Toronto Tailgate Parties and the Samsung Bills Toronto Kick-Off, and 48,434 fans watched the Bills defeat the Steelers 24-21 under a closed roof at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
The Bills Toronto Series includes a regular season game each year (2008-2012) and preseason games in 2008, 2010 and 2012. The series concept received the endorsement of several key NFL committees and was then approved unanimously by the NFL owners prior to Super Bowl XLII in Arizona. Ticket information is available at www.billsintoronto.com
On December 7, with the 2008 NFL season reaching its culmination, the Bills will face division rival Miami at Rogers Centre. The game will be played at 4:00 p.m. EST and broadcast nationally in Canada on Citytv and Rogers Sportsnet. The game will be the first NFL regular-season game ever played in Canada.
The Bills Toronto Series is a proud and enthusiastic supporter of amateur football across Ontario. On December 3, 2008, five provincial high school football championship games, called the OFSAA Bills Toronto Series Football Bowls, will be played at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
